Posted in Society by muslimwire on October 24, 2009

Alhaji Ibrahim Mallaha, the Chairman of the Zamfara State Pilgrims Welfare Agency said in Gusau on Friday that the agency had obtained 5,360 visas for its muslim pilgrims.

Mallaha told a news conference that visas for the remaining 300 pilgrims were being awaited at the Saudi Arabian Consulate in Kano, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

He said that the agency had fully subscribed to the 5,660 seats allocated to the state by the National Hajj Commission, adding that there was no more vacancy.

He said that all pilgrims had been immunised as directed by the Saudi Arabian authorities, stressing that all arrangements for successful hajj exercise had been completed by the agency.

“In order to ensure adequate welfare for the pilgrims, the state government has approved a number of subsidies, making the hajj fares in the state the cheapest in the country,’’ he said.

According to him, the state government has paid additional 500 riyals (about N20,000) to supplement accommodation charges for every pilgrim in the Holy Land.

Government has also provided free transport, drugs, camp facilities and bankrolled the immunisation charges for the pilgrims.

Mallaha advised the pilgrims to be law abiding and ensure that they are good ambassadors of the nation in Saudi Arabia.
